What is Avagaha?

About Avagaha

There is nothing quite as restorative as a long, warm soak, but what if that soak was a medicinal ritual? Avagaha , the traditional Ayurvedic immersion bath, is designed to go beyond simple relaxation. By immersing your body in warm medicated decoctions, you allow the healing properties of herbs to penetrate every pore, melting away stiffness and stress. Set in the lush, tranquil heart of Bali, Avagaha at Yara Wellness offers a profound experience of detoxification and peace, helping you emerge feeling completely renewed and revitalized.

Avagaha ?

Avagaha or Avagaha Sweda is an Ayurvedic therapeutic bath where the patient immerses a specific part of the body or the entire body in a tub filled with warm medicated liquids—such as herbal decoctions, oils, or milk. In Sanskrit, " Avagaha " means to immerse or plunge. This treatment is a form of " Svedana " (sweating therapy) that promotes deep detoxification and tissue relaxation.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your Avagaha session at Yara Wellness.

You will be provided with a disposable undergarment. The therapy is traditionally performed with minimal clothing to allow the herbal applications to reach all necessary areas of the body. Your privacy and comfort are always maintained with careful draping throughout the session.
A full Avagaha session at Yara Wellness generally lasts 60 minutes, which includes the specialized therapy followed by a restorative resting period or a warm herbal steam bath to maximize absorption.
We recommend arriving on a light stomach. Avoid heavy meals at least 2 hours before your session. A small snack is fine, but a full meal may cause discomfort as the body's digestive energy and healing energy work optimally when not in conflict.
We suggest waiting at least 30–60 minutes before showering to allow the medicinal herbs and oils to continue absorbing into the skin and tissues. When you do shower, use warm (not hot) water and mild soap to preserve as much of the therapeutic benefit as possible.
